5 Ways You Know Your Partner’s Love Language

May 8, 2022 by Alex Leave a Comment

If you want to build and sustain happy, healthy relationships, it’s important to figure out your partner’s love language. But what are love languages?. Love languages are different ways people express and receive love, some people prefer acts of service, while others like receiving gifts. Each person has a primary love language that makes them feel most loved and supported.

1) Physical touch

A great way to keep your partner feeling loved is by giving them lots of hugs and kisses. Or even better, pick one night each week to cuddle on the couch. Physical touch is a crucial part of loving someone, and if you’re not used to it with your partner, try focusing on that more. It’s a good way to reaffirm how much you love each other without having to say it often. For example, saying I love you in front of other people can make your partner feel uncomfortable but giving them a spontaneous hug when no one else is around will go miles toward making them happy.

2) Quality time

It’s one thing to be physically present with your partner, but if your partner doesn’t feel your undivided attention, it won’t mean much. Show them that you care by fully engaging with them in their activities. Try not to multi-task or make plans for other things while spending time together. This means being aware of your surroundings and not letting other distractions take away from enjoying time with your partner. If you’re distracted, they will pick up on it and think that you don’t really want to spend time with them. Not only does quality time show that you love your partner, but it also helps improve communication between partners.

3) Words of affirmation

Expressing love through compliments and encouraging words is a great way to make your partner feel valued. Try making a conscious effort to say one nice thing to your partner every day. If you’re not used to doing that, it might take some practice. But don’t worry, once you get into a habit of showing your partner how much they mean to you with kind words, it will become second nature. It’s important to note that these types of verbal affirmations are very different from complaining or nagging, Compliments and encouraging words need to be genuine in order for them to have an impact on your relationship.

4) Acts of Service

Acts of service is one of five different ways to express and experience love. In relationships, it is important to know how you want to be shown love and how your partner wants to be shown love in order for each of you to feel valued and loved. If you are not sure what your partner’s love language is, ask them. They will likely appreciate that you took an interest in knowing more about them. Here are some examples of acts of service that include cooking a meal, running errands, cleaning up after a party, or doing laundry.

5) Receiving gifts

Most of us would be thrilled to get a physical gift from our partner, especially if it’s something we’ve been wanting for a while. But there are some people who don’t feel loved by gifts at all. If you know your partner is one of these people, then you should definitely avoid giving them any physical gifts. Instead, focus on doing nice things for them that aren’t materialistic. For example, make their favorite meal or take them out on a date night. Whatever it is, just make sure they can see how much effort you put into showing them love in a way they understand.

Conclusion

Knowing your partner’s love language can help you provide emotional support and become closer in your relationship. There are many ways to demonstrate love, but according to Dr. Gary Chapman, it is important to make sure you are communicating your love in a language that makes sense to your significant other.
